Times of India in Kannada..........
these days... in Times of india... they hav been giving an wonder full ad...
The kanadigas (specially anil kumble, aishwarya rai, narayana murthy, girish karnad, vijay mallya, prakash padukone) gave ______ to the world and we give them back the kannada paper.
I didn't understand what they want to say? or rather whats their intention?... do they really love Kannada language, kannada culture, history of kannada. or is that they want to establish their supremacy over the kannada dialies...
A basic doubt arises in my mind (as usual), if at all the TOI group have real love towards kannada language, culture.... they could have provided one more supplement along with the English version. This would have been much better... a morning newspaper with a combination of english as well kannada.... they know that most of the IT people in bangalore read TOI and most of them are non-kannadigas. If a kannada supplement is provided, it will add a some knowledge to them about kannada (though they may not be able to read, they can get a glimpse of the kannada scripts). This may also help some non-kannada ppl to actually learn kannada....
Printing a separate paper and providing ads in one the leading dailies shows a clear indication that TOI wants to enter kannada newspaper circulation, thus establishing supremacy in the regional dialies... giving tough competation to old papers like prajavani, kannada prabha, samyuktha karnataka.
If they print those articles found in the Bangalore times (about late night parties, those bi**ni model photos), i dunno how it will help spreading the kannada language, kannada culture and Our Heritage.
