Bandipur On Bikes (BOBs)
Life was getting very bored.....
Office -> work -> home -> sleep - > office....... nothing new......
we ourselves (chappars) decided to break this chain, hence planned for a three day trek in bandipur forest.... out of 15 guys, 6 ppl decided to join, but this became 4, when we (myself, chethan, sreekanth and vivek) decided to leave for bandipur on bike !!!!!!!! yessssss bike....
we decided this on wednesday(14/3) night 11:45 pm that we will be leaving on bikes...... my Pulsar and cheth's Victor.....
I got my pulsar, serviced little (prepared for the loooong drive) filled with approx 6 ltrs of petrol on monday morning and was ready for the big venture....... supposed to leave at 3pm.... but actually left at 4:45 (after sorting some critical issues at office)... reached mysore around 6:45pm.
Booked two rooms at Daasaprakash hotel, went for a ride in the mysore city (my long time wish to ride in mysore city on my vehicle during night was fulfilled now...) Had our dinner at Daasaprakash hotel itself (where sreeki was gifted with throat infection...). On the morrow, morning 6'o clck we left for bandipur.... via gundlupet (had coffee here at 7:15 am) and then straight to mathunga wildlife sanctuary in kerala (@ 8:45am). We trekked in the forest for about 2 hrs (approx 15 kms), saw pug marks, wild elephants, cubs etc...... really an amazing experience.........
Headed for sulthan batheri (15kms from mathunga, towards interior of kerala) for lunch.... back to room.... rested for 2hrs.... then took a jeep safari (appu kootan's) abt 5:30 pm for abt 2 hrs...... The safari in the late evening was too good.....
Day 2:
Took Sreeki to a local clinic shop (suffering from throat infection), dropped him back to forest dormitory (where we had halted)... had breakfast at sulthan batheri....then headed towards "Kanthapara water falls" . Ride towards the falls was really memorable, those steep roads, narrow roads, hairpin curve and road that cross thru green tea estates........ we totally forgot the city life....
Rested in the water for abt 3 hrs..... then headed towards a local Dam..... then towards Phantom Rock....... back to dormitory ....... picked up sreeki..... dinner at sulthan batheri.... back to room slept...... (by the time we reached dormitory, there was a film show arranged by the forest officials for a kind of entertainment for the local tribes in mathunga wildlife sanctuary)
Day 3:
Sreeki was feeling better..... Started a looong trek in the early morning (abt 6am) in the forest. To our surprise...the forest was totally covered with morning mist....... the visibility range was abt 10 mtrs.... We were able to hear some sound of wild elephants, also tiger roar, peacock wawl.....etc
Reached a place called "Tri-Junction" where the forests of three states Kerala (Muthanga), Karantaka (Bandipur) and Tamilnadu (MadhuMalai) meet. Once again a vigorous trek in the deep forest..... the trek lasted for abt 5hrs.... came back to dormitory arnd 12:30pm. Freshned ourselves, cleared all charges (room rent, trekking fees etc)... had two tender coconuts and left for bangalore at 1:30pm..
Reached mysore around 4 pm... had little snacks for ourselves (also relaxed...) started the bike ride again at 4:45pm...reached maddur at 5:45pm....... had coffee (stopped really to allow free circulation of blood among all tissues of body... especially *****) left maddur at 6pm reached bangalore around 7 pm (offcourse, resting a while in ramanagara). The total kms were approx 710 for three days......
Really an amazing exp..... I wrote this blog on the next weekend (friday evening)...... and by the time i finished writing this, i am feeling the same.... life is getting bore......
So where shall i start for this weekend.........
